Music is my top priority in my scale of preference and so I give it more time - Dr Barz (INTERVIEW)


In an interview carried out by Cityvibez Meadia teeam some months ago, the popular Nigerian artists shows of his style progress in the music industry as he spoke with our media team about his progress and how he will never forget his roots.


Dr Barz also known as Victor Akpomon is a Nigerian singer, songwriter who's making history by becoming one of the biggest PH and Nigeria artist.

Victor Akpomon aka Dr Barz, hails from Idunwele Ewu, Esan Central LGA Edo State. Born in Benin city, Circumcised and raised in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. Graduate of Madonna University, studied Microbiology. 


- What made you realize that music was your path?


How big my passion for it grew over time.


- How would you describe your Pattern of music?


LifeHop. That's what I call my kind of music. It's a genre in which there's a fusion of Hiphop/Afrobeat/Pop with real life scenarios filled lyrical content.


- Which famous musicians do you admire? Why?


J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Timi Kei, Burna Boy, M.I, Davido, Wizkid etc. Most of them for the quality of their music, some for their personalities, and others for the succes they've achieved.


- Were you influenced by old records & tapes? 


Yes. Sure I was influenced my old tracks and tapes.


- Who are your biggest musical influences?


So many. A few are J.Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Nas, Game, 50 Cent, M.I etc


- Has there been one particular moment in your musical career that you’re most proud of?


Yes. Reaching the finals of the Hennessy Artistry competition in 2017 was proud moment.


- How do you handle mistakes during a performance?


By not giving up. Not dropping the mic and walking away


- Do you get nervous before a performance or a competition?


Yeah. Mixed with excitement


- How do you balance your music with other obligations - mate, children, job?


Music is the job. It holds a top priority in my scale of preference and so I give it more time.

- What advice would you give to beginners who are nervous?


You're on the right track. Be nervous, you'll need those nerves along the line. Focus, determination, hardwork and above all, God - are major keys
